About the Community

A Community Built on Collaboration

The Cyber Security in Transport Community exists to bring together cyber security, technology and operational leaders from across the transport sector to share knowledge, discuss common challenges and strengthen cyber resilience.

As transport systems become increasingly interconnected and reliant on shared technologies, suppliers and infrastructure, collaboration has never been more important. The community provides a trusted forum where members can learn from one another, explore emerging risks and contribute to improving resilience across the wider sector.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Cyber Security in Transport Community is to:

  • Encourage collaboration across the transport sector

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and industry discussion

  • Improve cyber resilience across transport organisations

  • Explore emerging cyber security and technology risks

  • Support learning through practical experience and shared insight

  • Promote a stronger understanding of sector-wide challenges and dependencies

The community is intended to complement, not replace, organisation-specific security programmes by creating opportunities for peer learning and collective problem-solving.

Our Vision

To build a trusted, practitioner-led community that helps improve cyber resilience across the transport sector through collaboration, knowledge sharing and practical insight.

We believe that organisations facing common threats and shared dependencies can achieve better outcomes by learning from one another and working together to address industry-wide challenges.

Community Principles

The Cyber Security in Transport Community is founded on a number of core principles.

Collaboration

We believe that sharing knowledge and experiences benefits the wider transport sector and helps strengthen collective resilience.

Professionalism

Members are expected to contribute constructively, respectfully and professionally at all times.

Inclusivity

We welcome participation from organisations and individuals across all areas of the transport sector, recognising that resilience requires diverse perspectives and expertise.

Practicality

Community discussions and publications should focus on practical challenges, lessons learned and actionable insights whenever possible.

Continuous Learning

Cyber security is constantly evolving. The community exists to support continuous development, knowledge sharing and professional growth.

Information Sharing

The community aims to provide a trusted environment where members can openly discuss challenges, lessons learned and emerging risks.

Unless otherwise stated, community discussions may operate under the Chatham House Rule to encourage open and constructive engagement.

Members should respect confidentiality, avoid sharing sensitive information without permission and focus on supporting collective learning rather than attributing blame.

Research and Contributions

The Cyber Security in Transport Community is built on collaboration and shared learning. Members are encouraged to contribute ideas, lessons learned, case studies and research topics that help shape future publications and provide practical insight for the wider transport sector.

The strongest research comes from practitioners. If you have experience, perspectives or real-world challenges that could benefit the wider community, we encourage you to share your ideas and contribute to future research, events and community discussions.

Membership

Membership is open to professionals working within transport, cyber security, technology, operational resilience, engineering, governance and related disciplines.

Community members benefit from:

  • Access to community events, webinars and discussions

  • Updates on emerging cyber security challenges and sector developments

  • Community research, whitepapers and practical insights

  • Opportunities to connect with peers from across the transport ecosystem

Governance

The community will be supported by an Advisory Board of experienced transport, cyber security and technology professionals to help shape its strategic direction and future priorities. If you are interested in becoming an Advisory Board member, please contact tom.bailey@C86.tech

Our activities include community events, collaborative research and practitioner-led initiatives designed to address the cyber security and resilience challenges facing the transport sector. As the community evolves, specialist working groups may be established to explore emerging topics and develop deeper insight into areas of shared interest.
